I am not sure if anyone noticed this, and I am not sure who reads what mobile game magazines, but I used to read many portals about mobile games, but they seem to all have lost quality, stop writing, or dropped really “looking” for good quality and interesting news on the market.

Now I think the only portal you can really find good content on is PocketGamer.co.uk, and many game review portals around the world, but those are primarily for users. There is really minimum portals for people from the market.

On the other hand, I can see a rising number of mobile magazines with games, locally many magazines directly from operators and mobile magazine buying numbers stabilized.

Back in the early days, I was actually a designer of one of the mobile game magazines done in Czech Republic and Slovakia. It was called playMOBIL (which obviously had copyright issues with the toy company, but I didn’t publish it…). I designed the magazine, the content (what goes where), the sections, and what specific content we will put in the first pieces (of course the blockbusters), and what news.

We did this concept back in the end of 2004 . We launched this magazine and promoted it by putting it everywhere on the web, on this conference called Invex, and also putting it inside another magazine what was left. The first paid version which was charged 0,5 EUR had about 20.000 sold copies, and a lot of content pieces were sold from it. It was break even in the end, but promoted the mobile games market like hell. I was glad to be a contributor to it.
