EuroMobileMedia - How did it go?
Events June 1st, 2008During last week I’ve been to the lovely Budapest to participate on the Euro Mobile Media conference. It turned out to be a data breath giving event, with lots of great participants coming from all around the market.
To be specific on presentations:
Day 1
- John Strand opened the session with one of his great presentations, giving a great understanding, overview, and thought from the world of mobile. John also mentioned to wake up, that ad-funded only things wont work (btw: for reference, read my article on ad-funded games).
- Patrick Mörk from Glu then followed up and showed the path in which to succeed in mobile games, which was a great presentation to hear and see. Definately looking forward to maybe making a little article with Patrick about that
- Pierre Roulph from Streamezzo gave an overview of the mobile applications market and how On Device Portals will make a difference. If you are interested in the topic, read my article on Wap vs. ODP
- After lunch, Marton Lonkai from Pannon gave a presentation on mobile tickets, and then Wenche Nag from Telenor on Mobile Music
- Ervan Pouliquen from Microsoft then gave a presentation on what Microsoft does in MSN Mobile, great to see, including the marketing examples. For example, the MSN mobile actually markets itself with partners on some markets - in Turkey they did a co-marketing campaign with Turkcell and 1 million people started using it.
- Jens Dissman from HandsOn Mobile gave a great presentation on communities and UGC, and then he ended up with an example that Handson just started providing, YATTA Mobile
- The day ended with Martin Sutherlands (Vantrix) presentation about mobile TV, and Sergio Cocco’s research in mobile
- Day 1 ended with a nice dinner and many people joining on a coffee downtown Budapest
Day 2
- Ola Svartberg from Rubberduck opened the Thursday with a presentation on their mobile TV technologies
- Herbert Mittermayr on the other hand explained what Alcatel-Lucent does in building DVB-H networks
- Andreas Mac Mahon from Accumulate then explained about their mobile games platform - a little wrapper that helps other companies bill their mobile content, lock / unlock it, and make it pay per subscription. Too bad we didn’t get to see a demo here, but I got to saw it after the presentation, and have to say I was very impressed by the technology
- Poupak Modirassari from Netsize explained how Netsize can help the mobile industry and your products
- Johan Nordquist from Aspiro gave a refreshing presentation on mobile content and how Aspiro does deck placement. Fabulous examples of day to day deck management. Never seen in a presentation previously = great job!
- Petr Litos from Nostromo gave a presentation on his view on brands. I couldn’t agree more with him on all of the points he made on brands in the mobile space, and Nostromo as the biggest company doing many brands in the CEE knows a lot about it!
- The day was closed by Marius Müller-Minde from Medio Systems with his presentation on mobile search and answers you can get from the mobile web, together with Alexander Trommen from Minick, the presentation I was waiting for all of the two days, was a great data giving presentation and overview of the mobile services and mobile advertising market.
Presentations to download will follow in the next days, I will be sure to post a nice link in the here. To conclude - very enthusiastic conference, giving people views on mobile, that they might have not seen before, and hopefully helping them to organize their thoughts about mobile, and where it’s heading.
I hope all that were here enjoyed the event.

Did anyone present anything about Mobile Analytics?
My company http://www.Amethon.com opened our New York office last year so next step would be a european office (we already have european customers but support them out of our Australian HQ).
Are there any european mobile specific analytics companies that we should be aware of or is still a new line of business so not much discussion yet.
Cheers,
Dean Collins
